Welcome to the 'Project diary' at Eudyptes.Net.
The field season has started. At the moment (until 13. November)
we get bitten by penguins, be bombarded by Sooty Shearwaters, burped
at by annoyed sea lions, attacked by crazy Skuas, blown away by
antarctic storms and all in all be overwhelmed by the subantarctic
Snares Islands.
The Snares Islands are out of reach for every ordinary mobile phone,
and thus we'll be greatly impeded if it comes to communication with
the civilized world and especially the Internet. However, we have
a satellite phone, which is going to be used to check and send emails
and every now and then there'll even be an update on the Startepage
of Eudyptes.net. Unfortunately, the satellite connection is not
the cheapest way to communicate and therefore it seems unlikely
that the project diary will be as up to date as it used to be (meaning
that updates only appear on the startpage - there'll be no archive
of dispatches until we're back).
As soon as we're back, the project diary will be updated and contain
a full archive of all dispatches published during our time on the
Snares - with images!
